Updates to the Best PMP Prep Around

Use your MP3 player to study for the PMP Exam and qualify for 35 education contact hours with this 35-hour, full-featured PMP Audio Course.
You may already know that I purchased the Project Management PrepCast™ shortly after it was released last year by Cornelius Fitchner, the host of the Project Management Podcast. I enjoy the product immensely, as audio is a good format for me to learn. The focus is on understanding the concepts internally, so that you know this stuff instead of rote memorization. There are several updates that have been made since I first became a customer and wrote about it, and I would like to share those with you now.
- 35 hours of audio
- 10 episodes of interviews with experts and students who passed the PMP exam
- Bonus Item #1 - Certificate for 35 Contact Hours (a requirement for the PMP exam)
- PMP sample questions
- Email course
- PMP and CAPM study checklists
The last 4 items are new since I signed up, and I have put them to use in my PMP preparation activities. This was the best PMP Prep course around originally, and now it’s even better. It even has a money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied….I really don’t see how you would not love this though!
Has anyone else reading this post used the Project Management PrepCast™? What was your experience like? Leave a comment and let everyone know!

Josh –
Easiest thing to do is to go to the website: http://www.pmcert.org. The PMCert portion of the asapm website was completely redone last July. It is now readable, current, and correct (although some of the marketing text that one of our volunteers prepared is still a bit murky).
We’ve also announced a program called “Extra Credit” whereby people with degrees in PM, certificates from extended educational programs, and competing certifications can obtain our Level D credential without taking the exam. Again, details on the website.
Next, I’m looking for assessors throughout the country. For a limited time, we will assess you for free in return for a promise to do a minimum number of later assessments of others at a reduced rate. Of course, you also have to actually be judged competent to be eligible to assess others.
Finally, I would love to find a company or two who would be interested in getting several of their PMs assessed: we got bulk pricing posted on the website. I’m hoping that this would produce better word of mouth than we’ve been getting.
IPMA has certified more individuals as project managers (as opposed to certifying people as professionals) than any other organization in the world.

Bill, I think we don’t hear enough about asapm or IPMA, and I think we should. I would love it if you had some articles to write or re-publish on this site about the asapm certification, its comparison to the PMP, etc.

Better yet … why not get a competence-based certification that requires demonstrated performance as a project manager? For about the cost of the PMP Exam plus a prep course, you can get certified by the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (asapm) as either a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager based on the complexity of the projects that you manage. asapm is the USA Member Association of IPMA, so our certifications are recognized throughout the world.
Full disclosure: I am the head of asapm’s certification program.

I love the PMP Prepcast. I am slowly going through it since my 3 year requirement is in about a year and a half. I am still in the Integration sections 4.0+. I follow along in my PMBOK as he explains things in real language.
This is the most practical, and AFFORDABLE tool I found when I was looking to learn about project management.
Thank you for letting people know about this great learning tool!
PS - I have been reading your site for about 4 months now and really enjoy it. Keep up the outstanding work!
