If any media is available afterwards...video, audio, pdf's, etc. it would be great to link to them from here so people can be engaged, even if they can't be directly involved.

I know there are a lot of beginners here, but you will be welcome as well. As Paul notes, these are WORKING sessions, and we will find a way for you to contribute. If you lack program management experience, it might be possible to start the review of the project manager standards early, or begin work on a sponsor standard ... a team member standard ... lots of possibilities.

Unfortunately, I expect to be in Kuwait that week, but I may be able to connect via Skype or somesuch.

Yes, as I am on the GAPPS BoD, I will definitely be there.....

And as these are all WORKSHOPS, what we plan on doing is to put the finishing touches on the PROGRAM manager competency standards as we hope to be publishing them for PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT before the end of 2009.

So we are encouraging experienced PROGRAM managers to join in the discussions, and add your 2 cents worth to what we've done over the past 3 or 4 years..... Understanding also that because of the workshop format, there are not many presentations.... People jump in and actually do a lot of productive things..... And we have a lot of fun at night.......

To get a flavor of what we are doing, you may find it interesting to see the prior research we have done just to define WHAT the definition of a "PROGRAM" is. http://www.globalpmstandards.org/downloads/program-manager-standards/GAPPS_Program_Types.pdf

As with so many other things related to project management, when we started doing the initial research, we discovered that there were many definitions of "program". Not only are there many definitions, but where the person stands as a stakeholder may result in very different definitions applying.

Because this is a self funded effort, and the deliverables we create are freely available under "Creative Commons" licensing, there is a nominal fee to participate in these workshops.

And to make everyone feel comfortable, yes, even those of us on the BoD have to pay...... (Not only that, but myself and several of the other BoD members also have to pay for our flights from Australia, Indonesia and South Africa to participate!!!)

Bottom line- this is DEFINITELY not PMI!!!
