I was a developer for years, so I can tell you these are real problems. In this particular example, I have had specific programming languages thrust on me despite my expertise residing with others.....for no more reason (from what I could gather) than the boss liked it best. So yes, this is a bit dramatic, but I am taking it seriously insofar as my experience allows correlations.
