Thanks Moses. Neither should take precedence, they are both critical. I favor an approach to project management which is Lean, which means everything in the project should be focused on delivering value to the end user. I do not approve of project management which is narrowly focused on meeting a set of requirements or specifications without regard to whether the end product will meet true needs in reality or not.

Hi Josh,

I just tapped into your rich notes on project management.
my problem is, reading from other text books and journals, almost everything we do is project bias. if that is the case then what is they issue between project management and strategic management. and which of these two takes precident over the other?

please, help me with the answer to the following essay question.

You are required to state and discuss ten points in support of the fact that "every functional manager requires basic knowledge in Human Resource Management"

I know what you're saying Glen. That is a benefit, but in my opinion should only be used if the issue is a matter of "fit".

I saw project managers use the cop-out of pointing a finger at the functional manager due to what I saw as normal conflict that should have been worked through.

Normal conflict navigation techniques should be used by the project manager; conflict is very good if directed to be constructive. It can be a creative force for good.
