<description>As a follow up comment, I frequently use the RS Means Facility costs http://www.rsmeans.com/bookstore/detail.asp?sku=60309 for work we bid in Indonesia.

Obviously enough, we not only have to adjust the pricing model to reflect local labor rates and costs of materials, but also have to modify the data to reflect differing methodologies.

Bottom line- don&#039;t discount the importance of methodology.

		<description>Hi Bill,
Hope you didn&#039;t lose power due to the ice storm?

Anyway, one small but important additional consideration to your bedroom painting scenario, is the METHOD being used. Are you going to spray paint? Use a roller? Brush?

I realize I am stretching the point a bit in your example, but in creating an estimate, the work method often makes a SIGNIFICANT difference in the pricing calculations. Perhaps a better example would be the placement of concrete. You can place it by pump, by power buggy, by hand using a wheel barrow, by direct chute or by crane and bucket. The cost differential can be significant, and one of the competitive advantages is how you plan on placing the concrete vs that of your competition.
