Hi Erika,
you are so right. This is basic human interaction that so many seem to forget and yet all these principles were documented in How To Win Friends and Influence People in the 1930's and may have been before that for all I know... You reap what you sow, and if you spread goodness you can guarantee that the rewards will come back to you. I've always maintained the best leaders are the silent ones... i.e. the ones that motivate and mentor but don't seek credit. As they say, an empty vessel makes the most noise and it's usually true.

Hi Erika,
I think this is a great post it shows there is more than just thinking about yourself in business and life. Taking time to congratulate or champion someone elses ideas is something i take on board. I think by doing so it creates a stronger team and helps future work with those involved. It also helps those involved become passionate about what their involved in and stimulate further innovation in the future as they arent afraid to express themselves.

Hello Erika,

How true are the comments you make, especially the feelings of under appreciation by the employees. It only takes a little MBWA to extend some appreciation by taking some time out of the day to sit down and listen to the staff.

The "Thanks a latte" idea is something I might just steal.

Thanks for the GREAT post, I look forward to reading more of your material.
